Les signaux d’alerte se multiplient sur l’extinction généralisée de la biodiversité. En trente ans, une espèce d’abeilles sur quatre s’est éteinte. En cause, principalement : l’épandage dans les champs de substances dévastatrices pour les insectes, qui contaminent massivement leur habitat naturel.
Il est vital pour notre avenir à tous d’enrayer la grande extinction des abeilles et des pollinisateurs, car leur disparition mettrait dangereusement en péril la sécurité alimentaire mondiale, et précipiterait le déclin d’un grand nombre de plantes à fleurs et d’espèces d’oiseaux, de poissons, de petits et grands mammifères, qu’ils nourrissent de façon directe ou indirecte.
Pourtant, sous l’influence de l’industrie agrochimique, la Commission européenne pourrait maintenir, pour de longues années encore, la mise sur le marché de pesticides qui leur sont toxiques, en adoptant des procédures d’évaluation des risques qui ignorent volontairement une partie de l’impact de ces substances sur les populations domestiques et sauvages d’abeilles.

Nous exigeons l’adoption des tests de toxicité qui permettent véritablement d’évaluer l’impact des pesticides sur les abeilles domestiques et sauvages, afin d’écarter fermement du marché tous les pesticides qui mettent en danger ces butineurs essentiels à notre sécurité alimentaire.
