EXIGEZ DES COMPTES DE LA COMMISSION EUROPÉENNE ON THE SECRET COMPROMISES THAT PRECIPITATE THE EXTINCTION OF BEES
On the strength of a historic decision by the General Court of the European Union and a firm position taken by the European Ombudsman in its favour, POLLINIS is calling on citizens to mobilize to obtain from the European Commission documents of public utility which could reveal the arrangements that have allowed agrochemical companies to prevent for more than 10 years the establishment of beneficial protections to save bees and biodiversity from pesticides.
POLLINIS has engaged in a legal tussle to obtain the publication of 78 administrative documents kept secret by the European Commission. Their data would expose the role of agro-industrial lobbies within the SCoPAFF, a key committee in the European decision-making process related to pesticides. It would also make it possible to understand how certain Member States of the European Union were able to block under their pressure scientific protocols which would have made it possible to halt the collapse of the populations of bees and pollinating insects throughout the territory of the Union. European.
But the European Commission refuses to publish the requested archives. In defiance of European regulations, which guarantee citizens' right of access to documents. In defiance of the court decision of the General Court of the European Union considering that no legal basis could justify the multiple refusals of the Commission. And in total contradiction with the official position of the European Union Ombudsman, who, alongside POLLINIS, demands citizens' access to documents.
